Principal

Amar Sen is a Principal at Handel Architects which he joined in 1995. He has served as Principal in Charge and Project Manager for some of the firm’s most prominent projects, with significant expertise in residential and hospitality design. Current work includes a new multifamily rental building under construction on West 43rd Street in New York City for Taconic; a new multifamily rental building under construction on Tenth Avenue in New York City for Gotham; a new multifamily rental building under construction in Washington DC's Capitol Riverfront district for Akridge and National Real Estate Advisors; an office building to multifamily residential conversion in Washington DC's Dupont Circle neighborhood for Post Brothers; and a new two-tower multifamily project in Jersey City for KRE Group.

Completed projects include Gotham Point, a two tower multifamily rental building on the waterfront in Queens for Gotham; Madison House, a for-sale residential tower at 30th and Madison in New York City for JD Carlisle; 2926 West 19th Street, a 100% affordable residential project in Coney Island in Brooklyn for BFC Partners, L+M Development Partners, and Taconic Investment Partners; a multifamily rental building on West 52nd Street in Manhattan for Taconic; the three-tower rental project Journal Square in Jersey City for The KRE Group; VIO & Incanto Residences on Washington DC's Southwest waterfront for PN Hoffman and Madison Marquette; a mid-rise condo building called The Bower in DC's Navy Yards neighborhood for PN Hoffman; The Ritz-Carlton Hotel & Residences in Downtown DC for Millennium Partners; 3303 Water Street in DC's Georgetown neighborhood for EastBanc; and The Ritz-Carlton Residences in Philadelphia for The Arden Group.

Prior to joining Handel Architects, Mr. Sen worked for Samuel Anderson Architects, and before that for C.C. Yu Architects in Taipei. Mr. Sen holds his Bachelor of Arts and his Master of Architecture from Columbia University. He has received many honors for his work including a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, a Graham Foundation Grant, a Deborah J. Norden Traveling Fellowship, a Lucille Smyser Lowenfish Memorial Prize, and a Kinne Traveling Fellowship.
