Senior Associate

Emil Stojakovic joined Handel Architects in 2001, and holds a depth of knowledge in the design and construction of a variety of building types, with a focus on residential and residential mixed-use.

Mr. Stojakovic is currently serving as a Project Manager for the new 958-unit, 64-story residential tower in Queens for The Durst Organization; the project includes the rehabilitation of the famous Queens Clocktower. He is also the Senior Technical Architect for the Journal Squared, a three-tower development in Jersey City, NJ. Phase one completed in 2017 and contains 540 rental units in 1 55-story tower. Phase two, completed in 2021, is the tallest of the three towers at 72-stories. It includes 704 units and over 32,000 sq.ft. of indoor amenity space. Phase 3 is currently under construction.

Previously, Mr. Stojakovic served as the Project Architect for The Caledonia, a 500,000 sq. ft. residential project adjacent to the High Line in West Chelsea, and The Quorum Center, a mixed use complex in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. He has also completed a 40,000 sq. ft. health club and spa for the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami, and One Charles, a new residential building in Boston.

Mr. Stojakovic was a Senior Associate for five years at C.Y. Lee and Partners in Taipei, Taiwan. While there he was responsible for the design of several large-scale projects in Asia, along with the management of a range of multi-disciplined local and international consultants during those projects. Projects for that office included the KMT Political Party Headquarters, the 101-story, 508-meter-tall Taipei International Financial Center, an office building in Beijing, and one in Shanghai, China.

From 1998 to 1993, at Kohn Pedersen Fox, Mr. Stojakovic was involved in the design of a number of prominent projects in both the United States and Asia, including the World Bank Headquarters and the Franklin Court Building in Washington, D.C. Conversational in Mandarin, Mr. Stojakovic received his Bachelor of Architecture, magna cum laude from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1987. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and is a registered architect in the State of New York and the State of New Jersey.
